Bonjour,
Voila j'ai un compte rendu a rendre pour ce jeudi en anglais et j'aurai voulu que quelqu'un me corrige les éventuelles erreurs que j'ai pu commettre afin de rendre quelque chose d'à peu près juste. Je vous serez reconnaissante si vous pouviez me donner des indications sur la correction à y apporter et je reste à votre disposition pour toutes autres questions.

This article is an extract from the Economist dated March, 26 2009.
It's composed of 4 parts which are tackled the same burning issue :« Why Online-dating websites prosper in the recession? »
The first paragraph seems to give the main answer. Indeed, it summurizes the whole article because it explains that the more difficult times are, the less people want to remain single.Paradoxical though it may seem the more difficult times are, the more people go on online-dating websites.
Rightly, people can split many of their costs when they are both.
To illustrate this theory, this document exposed 3 examples online-dating websites which are tackle in different way the question.
In addition, we can see a graph which is a case in point of this main theory. It shows clearly this strange tendency : the number of users has skyrocked since January 2008 whereas we are in the middle of economic crisis.
The main fact is developped by 3 online-dating websites' testimonies :
Judging by Greg Waldorf, the boss of eHarmony, a wholesome marriage-oriented site with more than 20m paying subscribers, the more important crisis is, the more people need a lover. According to a recent survey the more stressed women are, the more women seek a long-term relationship.
This compagny also noticed that the number of visits to its website was higher when the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by more than 100 points.
Compared to its competitors eHarmony targets womens in their 30s or middle-agged people and it's a paid online site.
In support of this theory, OKCupid which is a free online-dating website and have the same purpose as eHarmony, is giving an other point of view.
According to Sam Yagan, OkCupid's boss, the main advantage of being free, which has proved popular with people who looking for partners because it seems to be a « cheap entertainment ».
OkCupid targets mainly young people to compared to eHarmony that's why it haven't the same opinion on this question.
Finally, the third example is revealed an other type of website which is also doing well since the creditcrunch. Instead of arranging marriages, AshleyMadison.com arranges affairs. It targets people who look for one-night stands. Judging by his boss, his site is thriving for another reason: money problems.
To conclude this document, I think people are more attracted by online-dating websites when the economy slows because they are feeling bad and alone. So, it's easier to face to the crisis when we are two and we can share all problems.
